I recently did an upgrade from ExpressionEngine v2.1.0 - Build: 20100810 to v2.1.3

Everything seems to be fine except for the interface for editing an entry.  For some reason pages that use a specific field group are not showing the entry fields. I also noticed the the content on the “show/hide toolbar” has shifted.  The open/close eye is gone and has been replaced with the words “delete”—is this a mistake or is it suppose to look this way?

I’ve attached a couple of images so you can see what I am talking about.  I also included an image of an entry with a different field set group so you can that it does work in that instance.

    thanks!

Does that only happen with one particular group? Which one?

Have you uploaded a fresh set of cp theme files, too?

Looks like you forgot those, I am afraid 😉

    Hi Ingmar

I figured out why the images weren’t showing up.  When I did the upgrade I uploaded everything in ASCII per instructions:

    ExpressionEngine User Guide
Table of Contents > Installation and Update Instructions > Updating from a Previous Version of ExpressionEngine

Using an FTP program such as WS_FTP, SmartFTP, Transmit, Fetch, etc. you will now upload and replace the folders listed below on your server with the new versions you downloaded. Remember to upload the files and directories in ASCII format (not Binary format).

The image files were all corrupt as a result. I changed my upload settings and uploaded them again.  The images now all show up, but the page still renders with custom fields closed, even though I have the custom filed setting “Show this field by default?” set to “yes” —-Well I guess they are showing, they’re just closed by default. Not sure why.  Before I did the upgrade the page did render with them open.

Any ideas on why this might be?

Did you replace the cp templates, too, not just the system files?

I re-uploaded the entire “themes” folder.  Where are the cp templates located?

    Hi, Jules.

Ingmar meant the cp_themes folder in the /themes directory.

Were you using custom publish pages in the earlier version?

    Hi Sue

Were you using custom publish pages in the earlier version?

No, I left it the way EE loads it.

I did logon as another member group and the fields were open when the page loads, so it’s some sort of setting on the page that I must have unknowingly clicked.  I haven’t found it yet, but it’s good to know that it’s not a “malfunction”

    cheers

Try to delete (and recreate, if needed) any custom cp layout.

Ingmar you were so right, I used the remove layout and all went back to normal.

Thank you so much for all your help!
