Move install from subdirectory to site root

I built an EE site that will replace a Joomla installation (and the client is already ecstatic!).  I created the EE install in a subdirectory of the site so the Joomla site shows up as usual, but the client can access the EE site at “mysite/ee”.  Everything is working fine, so I am ready to make the site live.

My question: what is the best approach to doing this, meaning the minimal amount of changing paths in various files?  Can I just move the index.php from the subdirectory to the site root and update the system folder path in that file?

    Tks

Please ignore this post - it was meant for the EE2.x support section.  Sorry!
