    Hi,

I’ve created a members-only downloads area using the native members EE functionality and a couple of add-ons/channels. I have a template that serves up downloadable files if a user is logged in. However, I need to password protect the folder that holds my download files on my server so someone can’t access the files within it by typing out the direct url to a file. However, when I do this, I’m prompted to input the additional id/pw when I try to upload/download a file within EE to that folder. Is there a way to authenticate EE users and bypass the directory password?

    Thanks!

    brittanyA,

How did you password protect the folder? Using a htaccess through your hosting control panel?

Is there a way to authenticate EE users and bypass the directory password?

Not that I know of. There used to be an add-on for EE1.x called LinkLocker. You could maybe follow up with the author to see if there is an EE2 version available

Do you want me to move this thread to the CodeShare Corner so more of our community can chip in if they have ideas?
