    Hi

Wee issue with a new member group not being able to add entries to a single channel (all other channels are restricted to another Member group).

I can populate the individual custom fields but cannot submit the entry to be saved.
Instead it returns the message “You are not authorized to access this page”

When I look under Options on the Edit entry page there are no channels available under the Channel select field (see attached) - which might explain a symptom if not cause of the problem.

Triple checked the Member Group channel permissions, etc.

EE version is 2.1.3 (build 20101220)
PHP 5.2.17 and MySQL 5.1.48 FWIW

    Cheers in advance

Looking further into reason why a Member Group might not be returning any channels in the Edit Entry > Options tab? I’ve checked all the settings for channel, member group, etc as well as checked under the bonnet in the database to ensure that the relationships are all set as expected.

So, all seems to be okay in the settings and database. Any thoughts on why this might be happening?

Seems to be restricted to the Edit Entry page - can view appropriate entries in the Content > Edit page.

    Thoughts and suggestions appreciated

Not sure if this is related, but I’m seeing the same message every now and then when I’m logged in as admin. Like you, it happens when I want to edit an entry. After the message I go back, click the entry again and the message is gone. Have only seen it twice, but seems odd. EE 2.1.3 as well.

Does this ever happen for Superadmins as well? Have you made sure this new member group can, in fact, access those channels?

    Hi Ingmar

No problem when viewing entry options as a Superadmin.
Checked in both the Control Panel and in the database that the Member Group has all the relevant permissions for these channels and seems to be as expected.

Can however report that the member group can post entries. Just that they cannot modify channel from within the Create/Edit Entry page.

This would seem to be the same issue reported here http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/179340/#850053 and filed as a bug https://support.ellislab.com/bugs/detail/15120/

For me it happens when signed in as Superadmin, I don’t have any other member groups (or any other member accounts). But since this is probably a different issue, I won’t hijack this thread. If I get the same message again, I’ll post a new thread!

    Hi Net Resources,

I not sure that the bug report you linked to is stopping this working. Please confirm that in your member group preferences you have at least these options allowed:

    1. Control Panel Access (Can access CONTENT section, Can access CONTENT: Publish, Can access CONTENT: Edit, Can access CONTENT: File Manager - if you have image fields)
    2. Channel Entries (Can post and edit entries in - the appropriate channel)

    @Leon, okay, thanks.

    Cheers

I think we have a related problem.

I am signed in as superadmin - occasionally when I click on the ‘edit entries’ list to go back into an entry I see the screen (screenshot attached) with the error about not being authorized.

However even more disturbingly; and frustratingly - I can no longer go into and edit any of my entries! Each time I do click an entry; and don’t get the message on the screenshot - I am taken to a ‘new entry’ page for the channel i’m trying to edit an entry in.

I am having a similar issue with the File Manager tab. I have set a member group up that can post to all channels and made sure they have control panel access to all content areas but when I am logged in as this member group and I click on the File Manager tab I get the error message “You are not authorized to access this page”.

I am using a fresh install of 2.1.3

I have even set up a member group which mirrors the Super Admin settings and I am still getting the same error message.

    Gareth,

Under your File Upload Preferences have you enabled file uploading for any member groups?
Each upload destination has its own preference

This is a known bug and fixed in beta of next release. Wait a few seconds for Edit page to fully load before clicking an entry

Thanks John, I hadn’t realised there was a setting in there to. It worked a treat once I set the options in the File upload Prefernces.
