After upgrading to 2.1.3, we’re not able to upload files on some of our MSM sites.  I’ve checked the folder permissions, and to test I set up a new Upload Destination using the same folder that the main site is able to upload images to.

I’ve made sure the file upload preferences are the same as the main site, but no luck.  These were all working prior to update.  Any thoughts?

    Hi, Trapeze Software Inc.

Did you also upgrade your MSM files? What version did you upgrade from?

We did also upgrade all MSM files.  Upgraded from 2.1.1 Build 20101020 I believe.

    Trapeze Software Inc.,

The latest MSM build is Build: 20101220. You an check yours by going to Edit Sites menu by clicking the name of your site in the top right.

Are your other MSM sites different domains, sub domains or just directories?

Do you get a warning? What happens?
Is this the File Manger Modal window in Publish or in the File Manager itself?

Can you confirm you did a version update as opposed to a build update

Hmmm. the MSM build listed on the Edit Sites page is “Version: 2.0 Build: 20101215” even though I’ve updated the new files (with Build: 20101220) by following the instructions here: http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/cp/sites/install.html  Is there a step I’m missing other than replacing those 3 files?

I have a main site which has no problems uploading, 1 other MSM site in another domain for which upload doesn’t work anymore.  We also have 6 sites in temporary subdomains that we are testing, 1 of which has no problems uploading as well, the rest do.  To rule out permission issues i have created upload destinations to a folder which does work on the main site, and the 1 subdomain site, using the exact same settings, but no luck.

When I try to upload an image I get a “upload_unable_to_write_file” error message both in the Publish Modal window and in the File Manager.

I did do a version update.

If you go into your Security and Session Preferences and turn off Apply XSS Filtering to uploaded files? does it work?

There seems to be some inconsistency with build numbers so I have asked internally for clarification. Rest assured though what you downloaded will be he most recent.

That worked.  Now all sites are uploading properly.  Also noticed it was already turned off for sites that were working.  Odd that all sites were working at some point even with this setting on.

    Thanks John!
