    Hi,

    I’m after a way to make -

    http://www.domain.com/folder/page

    into

    http://www.domain.com/page

Where folder is a template and page is a channel entry.

I understand how to call the channel entry but I’m not sure on the best approach to remove the /folder/ from the URL

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Have you tried using the “index” template in your default template group that way? That said, it’s not recommended. By default EE uses http://example.com/index.php/group/template/url_title.

Also, the Pages module might be appropriate for what you’re trying to do.

Yeah - have looked at doing it this way and it will work but as you say it’s not the best solution and as the site as several different page layouts it’ll make for a very large template file with lots of potential for problems.

Pages is another option I’ve looked at but again both this and the above suggestion take a lot away from the CMS functionality I think so it’s prob best just to have the directory / template in the URL.

I am afraid these are probably your best optione here. You can deviate from that standard URL structure, provided you know what you are doing, but you’ll be fighting EE along much of the way.

Take a look at this series of articles to give you a better understanding of EE’s url structure.
