A client reported getting the following error when trying to upload a pdf: “The file could not be written to disk.”  I had her send me the file and I got the same error (logged in as super admin).  I tried re saving the file using Acrobat Pro in different settings, but no luck.  It is not an issue of the file size being too large, as I have uploaded larger ones no problem.

This particular pdf was created by scanning a printed document, if that makes any difference.  I had this problem back the 1.6.x days where EE rejected the file because it detected something that looked like XSS.  Are there settings I am missing?

    Version 2.1.3 Build 20101220

    Any suggestions would be appreciated

Hi, Roi. We’ve had a few reports of similar issues with PDF files. Did you try turning off XSS checking completely?

CP Home > Security and Session Preferences > Apply XSS Filtering to uploaded files?

Hi Sue - yes, that is what I did to get it to work after 30 minutes of messing around resaving the file.  Sure would be nice to have an error message that was meaningful rather than the Microsoft-like one that I got.  Perhaps something your team can look at as they work on the File Manager.

Thanks for the follow up, Sue!
