    Hello Support

I’m helping a client move their EE 2.1.3 install to a brand new server. Their current (old) server and site were hacked.

I’m planning on starting out again with a clean install of EE 2.2.3. Is there a way to export all the channel data from the compromised server and import it into the new EE install? I’m hoping to find a simple way to move the site to a clean install. The site has hundreds of entries and rebuilding it from scratch would be huge.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

I would suggest to simply move the database. Take a look at these instructions to get you started.

    Hello support

I’m still having problems moving my old EE website to a clean install of EE. The reason I’m trying to do this. Is the site got hacked and I’m uncertain if the EE file structure got compromised. I have a complete backup of the database and templates. So I was hoping to combine them with a clean install of EE.

    I’ve followed these steps:

    * Installed a clean version of EE 2.x (same version as before)

    * installed into the clean EE all the same modules, extensions, plugins and move the template files.

    * Confirmed the new version is up and running.

    Then I followed these steps:
(I’d like to hook up the old data to this new install.)

    * I’ve moved the entire old EE database to the new server.

    * Changed the database config to use the old EE database.

But Unfortunately this does not work. Should this work?
After the database change I can no longer log into the admin system and the main site gives me this error. I’ve commented out the lg_better_meta tag in the index template but still get this error.

    Error
The following tag has a syntax error:
    {exp:lg_better_meta_pl:template}
Please correct the syntax in your template.

    ipatrick,

I would recommend following the instructions that Ingmar linked to exactly.

The I would do a build update which would give you a fresh set of core files.

    Does that make sense?

Also to just add. Make sure your new server meets all our requirements

    Hello John

Thanks for the follow up info. I’ve gotten a little closer. I re-performed the entire process again following all the steps including the build update which seems to have fixed the public side. I’m getting the right templates/content served. 😉))

Unfortunately I’m only getting a blank page for the control panel. One thing I’ve noticed is that the public side is resolving the {site_url} to the old domain. We’re running on a new IP right now no domain name.

Is there a config file where I can reset the url for the control panel? I’ve changed the $config[‘cp_url’] value. But that doesn’t have any effect.

    thanks for your help.

Are you sure you didn’t have 2.1.1 instead of 2.1.3 going on there?
