I have set up a beta version of a site for testing but have run into a bit of an issue with the path settings in the weblog preferences. Due to the fact it’s sitting on a testing server the URL to the relevant weblog is longer than the available space. How do I go about extending the length ?

I am afraid there’s no supported way to do this, you’d have to hack EE. Perhaps you could use symlinks or other server side way of shortening your URLs?
