    Hello,-

    I’m trying to create a static page by copy and pasting HTML markup and the copy contained therein in the “Page Copy” field of the Pages Module (under the Publish tab). When I check the result in the browser it looks weirdly garbled - text is broken, there’s space between the words, and the symmetry is off:

    http://jamesabbottdd.com/index.php/services

    Also when I use an include on the page:

    {embed="includes/contact-me"}

    it’s being parsed literally instead of being executed, so the above statement is what the page is showing. But the very same include works on my index page.

    What’s going on here?

    Thanks!

    Cheers,
    James

    Hi, James. Are you using a Static page template type? If so, that’s why the embed code doesn’t work. Does that help?

    Edited to add:

    Are you trying to use a channel or put the embed code in an entry?

    Hi Sue - the type of the template is “Web Page”. As for your second question, the embed code that doesn’t work is in the entry for that page (the Page Copy field). I am using a channel for static pages, and when I put an include in that template it works.

    From the point of view of page structure, it made sense to put one of the includes directly in the entry - is this not possible? Also, why does the page look all broken?

    Thanks!

    Out of the box, no that’s not possible. You can do this with the aid of an add-on though which you can download here.

    I’m trying to create a static page by copy and pasting HTML mark-up and the copy contained therein in the “Page Copy” field of the Pages Module (under the Publish tab).

    If you are copying and pasting mark-up directly into the field make sure that in the settings for that field that its custom formatting is set to ‘none’
