I’m working on a site that requires a photo gallery and a calendar. I’m not even sure where to start. I was hoping there might be an addon for something like that. I’m new to EE, so I’m not even sure how to add an addon.
Ideally, the photo gallery could be categorized by event.

Not outta the box, the theory would be get your events systems sorted first (use Solspaces Calender if you want something more than bog standard info) then look at gallery extensions: http://devot-ee.com/search/results/search&keywords=gallery&channel=addons&addon_version_support=ee2/
