I have a user group that cannot change the status of entries.

They can SEE it in the status list, but cannot change the status of an entry to OPEN.

If I log in as the user I can go to the options tab and choose OPEN from the status list and save the entry with no errors. However, the entry remains with a status of CLOSED. Even new entries.

If I log in as a super-admin, I can change the entry to open, but if I log back in as a user from the other group and edit that entry it switches back to CLOSED. Even if I don’t go to the options tab.

I checked the Default Status group and that group does have access to the OPEN status.

    Any thoughts? Bug?

    - and you have made sure that the default status group is assigned to the channel in question?

(Made that mistake myself a while ago ....)

Have you made sure that the channel in question does in fact have a status group assigned to it?

I have the same problem. The default status group “Statuses” is assigned to my channel and my group have access to “Open” and “Closed” in this status group but can’t set anything but closed when publishing/editing an entry.

Any suggestion of what might be wrong?

Weird, it does indeed sound like the Channel doesn’t have a status group assigned to it.

@ixd Can you also confirm that your ‘Statuses’ group contains both the “Open” and “Closed” statuses and that your member groups have access to them?

    Thanks for your fast reply!

It was as you said, I tried to changed before I posted here but the settings was not saved properly the first time, probably due to me being to impatient when updating all my channels :(

Does anyone know why it possible to set Closed/Open as “super admin” when the default status group is unassigned to the channels? If these are default channel statuses (intended as default functionality for show/hide?) shouldn’t they just be assigned by default?

Because SuperAdmins are just that - super users.

You might want to suggest that when you build a new channel, that if you don’t assign a status group, an error message fires. It would make a great Feature Request.

    Does that help?

Thank you for taking your time and answer me, much appreciated! I posted a feature request.

An error is a good alternative but I find it even more convenient to have the “Statuses” group assigned by default because that is the functionality that already is assigned by default, it is just not available for anyone but super admin. Also, it won’t force you to create your status group before creating your channel.
