    Hello,

Just got this Notice on my CP for no particular reason… I wasn’t doing anything different from regular routine site maintenance….

An unexpected error occurred attempting to download the current ExpressionEngine version number. Please visit your Download Account to verify you are on the current version. If this error persists, please contact your system administrator.

It is just very annoying. Any Ideas?

    Thanks.

A workaround is to go to Admin>>General Configuration…uncheck New Version Auto Check.

Seems the same thing happened to both of us…

Don’t know how or why it happened

    Just delete /system/expressionengine/cache/ee_version/
When EE updates the cache file… should be corrected

This is weird… I will try your solution. I would like some input from the EE folks too anyways…. this makes no sense.

    Thanks.

    Peccavio,

Your solution worked just fine…. deleted the /system/expressionengine/cache/ee_version/ folder and the notice was gone.

Ingmar, Still wondering why did this happen?

    Anyways. Thank you very much.

It may have had trouble pinging our site for an updated version number for an unknown reason or your permissions on the cached folder may have been incorrect. Closing this one out for now. Feel free to start a new thread if you have any more questions
