Using v2 installation of EE with Firefox, but the “Publish To Field” and “Close” buttons have just stopped working when editing content in WriteMode.

Anyone know what I can do to fix it?

I’ve tried emptying the browser Cache, and also upgrading EE from 2.1 to 2.1.3

You are on the latest version and build, then? Did that work before? Have you tried with any other browsers?

  • #3 / Jan 20, 2011 6:46am

Yes it was working fine on a previous build, then it suddenly stopped working (while we were in the middle of editing some entries).
I then upgraded to v2.1.3 and that didn’t fix it.
It doesn’t work for me on Safari (Mac), Firefox (Mac), Camino (Mac), IE8 (Windows).

IC360, are you using any sort of third party add-ons? If so, which ones?

  • #5 / Jan 20, 2011 11:11am

No I’m not using any 3rd party add-ons.
A straight out-of-the-box install of EE.
    😊

Can you please try to re-upload a fresh set of files? Pay particular attention to the theme files, too (and make sure you have Javascript enabled in your browser, obviously).

  • #7 / Jan 24, 2011 7:26am

I have re-uploaded all the Theme files but still no luck. Javascript is enabled on the browser too.
I’m sure I’ve had this problem before (and possibly even commented about it on this forum, but I can find any references to it here).

Are you using custom layouts? Try to delete and recreate them as needed.

  • #9 / Jan 31, 2011 8:54am

Yes I am using custom layouts for the tabs.
So, I’ve tried recreating the tabs and moving the fields around the tabs, but it still doesn’t work.
However, it seems to be just the one particular field that’s not behaving. I’ve even tried removing the Writemode from that custom field and adding it on again, but no luck.

    IC360,

Does /themes/javascript exist after your upgrade? It is a new folder.

Are you getting any JavaScript errors showing in your browser?

It’s odd that it’s only happening for that one field. What else is turned on for that field?

  • #11 / Feb 02, 2011 2:12pm

    Hiya,

Yes that folder exists and it looks like everything is present.

I only have the Writemode thing switched on for this particular field.

As for Javascript errors, there are none (when Publishing a new entry).
When I type text into the field textarea box I get the following Warning though:

Warning: The ‘charCode’ property of a keydown event should not be used. The value is meaningless.

When I use the Writemode function on this field, I get lots of Warnings but no errors.
    Here are a few:

    IC360,

Can’t replicate this but can I ask what theme are you using? Is it default? If you switch to Corporate do you have the same issue?

  • #13 / Feb 10, 2011 11:01am

    Yeah using the Default theme.
I’ve tried changing to Corporate theme, but it’s still doing the same thing.

I could send you access details if you’d like to take a look?

Hi, IC360 - are you able to open your console or something like Firebug and let us know if you’re seeing any Javascript errors?

    Thank you!
