EE 2 User Access Control

Our installation of EE 2 uses MSM.  Current build is v2.1.0 Build 20101220.

I don’t know if that information matters, but here’s my issue:

I have a member group configured to be able to edit channel entries and I specify what channels the user can access to make edits.  The member group can also publish to those same channels, however, if a user within that member group publishes a new entry, the default status of the entry is “closed” and not “open” as was defined in the access settings.

When the user tries to change the status to “open”, that option is not listed, so the user only sees “closed” as a selection option.

Is there some configuration setting causing this, or is this a bug?  This problem is affecting a production system, so I need to resolve this quickly.

Thanks in advance for the help.

    SCS,

In your specific Channel Preferences under its Group Assignments you need to assign a status group. The Default will work here

Let us know if this works for you

When I look at that screen, status group has no options.  The default value is “None”.

You need to assign a status group to this channel that has an “Open” status. The default status group has one, but still needs to be assigned to the channel.

So I created a custom status group and assigned it to each channel because the default group is not listed as an option when assigning a status group to each channel.

I’m waiting to see if my users now have access to set the status for each channel entry.

Sounds good. You can always log in as them for testing purposes too. But that should fix things.

UPDATE:  Issue resolved.  Creating the custom status group and assigning it to each channel did the trick, however, I am still not sure why the default status group was not available for selection for each channel by default.

    Thanks for your support!
