I have the problem of having forgotten to switch off membership registration - and I find myself with over 6,000 spam members!!
Deleting these via the EE cpanel is going to take hours. So I was wandering if you could suggest a quick way to delete these - maybe using phpAdmin and a query that, say, deletes all the members of a specific group in 1-2 operations?
None of these spam members have published any entries so re-assigning entries won’t be necessary.
I could just go and delete the rows from the tables in the database (with phpAdmin I could delete 500 rows at a time which would make it all a lot quicker), but I am afraid of causing damage by deleting data that may be referred to in another table.
As far as I can tell I need to delete them from 2 tables: exp_members and exp_member_data. Is that right?
This issue was raised in the past - but no final reply was given: http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/174106/
Many thanks for your help
Chris
p.s. I am using EE 1.5.2
