Protecting an Entry

    Hi All 😊

Is there a way that I can lock an entry from being able to be deleted?

I have a situation where I have 3 pages that have 3 separate entries from one channel on them using the entry_id=”” tag. The idea is that the customer will edit just those entries when wanting to edit those pages. The problem is, if they delete those 3 entries by accident i will have to go back and change the number of the entry_id on the template.

I can’t just lock their user group from deleting entries because there are loads of other channels on the site that they need to be able to delete entries from - I just want to somehow protect those 3 entries in the one channel. If it helps, they are the only entries from that channel.

Cheers, and thanks for any suggestions,

    Anthony

    Hi, Anthony.

Instead of using an entry_id, use a url_title. That way, if they fiddle with the entries and accidentally delete them, you can redo them and use the url_title again.

    Does that help?

    Hi Sue,

That is a fantastic idea, thank you so much.

I love having a community (and support team 😉 who know so much more about the ins and outs of EE than me!

You’ll catch up soon enough. 😊 In the mean time, feel free to keep posting questions. Also - I have a site called EEBeginners you can peruse.
