I’ve just had a lot of joy with 320 and up (http://stuffandnonsense.co.uk/projects/320andup/) - more a boilerplate than a framework,  based around responsive design principles.

This one looks very interesting: “An easy to use, powerful, and flexible framework for building prototypes and production code on any kind of device.

    Just perfect.
I used it on both ExpressionEngine and Wordpress projects. Much better than Blueprint, from where i switch to.

I love the integration of Zurb playground stuff, modals, orbit, quick css buttons ... and you can produce clean&quick; markup.

We used to stick mainly to 960.gs, but adaptive/responsive design and HTML5 aren’t included. We’re still looking for a good replacement, but the best so far is something like Golden Grid or Frameless Grid.

As I know the most popular language to support to you webpage regarding webdesign I know about the HTML and CSS.

Also, Twitter Bootstrap 2.0 is out and now has fluid layout support. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ve heard good feedback.

So far working with Golden Grid System has gone well. It offers just the basics, so it’s less of a Framework than other systems, but I like not having to strip out stuff I don’t want/need. I’m using it with HTML5Boilerplate on my current project.

I’m a keen lover of the 960.gs, but am keen to try out more.

    Have you tried LESS?
    http://lesscss.org/

I came across this article late last year
    http://coding.smashingmagazine.com/2011/08/23/the-semantic-grid-system-page-layout-for-tomorrow/

They mention this 960 variant that uses LESS http://semantic.gs/

So far it’s been pretty close to perfect for me!

I’ve looked into pre-processors like LESS, but have so far not found them to be worth changing to. I’m somewhat of a purist, coming from a background of coding HTML in a text editor, so I need a good reason to move away from directly editing the code.

Yes, I read the same article about semantic.gs. Two problems prevented me from using it.
    1. I’d have to learn LESS or SASS
    2. I now use content-based breakpoints (rather than device-based), and em instead of px (for ppi reasons). So I may as well start with something cleaner/emptier like GGS.

That’s not to say that LESS, Semantic.gs or anything else is necessarily bad, just that I don’t see it working for me. Perhaps that will change in the future, afterall I now use an IDE for some projects. But if you do use LESS, I’d recommend using a server-side compiler.

... But if you do use LESS, I’d recommend using a server-side compiler.

I used a little Adobe AIR app that does the compiling for me. It even minifies the css.
But I only use that for local/dev work.
Once things are looking-good, I replace the *.less files with the *.css compiled versions and upload away.

I didn’t find any learning curve to using LESS. With the exception of mixins, and trying to create a color palette. Everything else was simple css.
