Sorry for not providing a more specific subject title, but there are a few things going on there, all seemingly related but I can’t pinpoint the source…

First of, I can’t remove layout, selecting"select all” and clicking on “remove layout” has no effect. That’s usually the first thing I try when stuff goes bonker in EE2 CP (which honestly happens much more often than I’d like…).

Now: when I click on content > publish > blog (that’s my first channel in the dropdown), two things happen:

    - The first tab"Publish” is not “selected” (it’s dark blue)
    - All drop down menus on the main nav stop working. No more drop downs…

Some javascript on the page still work though: the slide out of the “show toolbar” still animates.

Now the really weird part: it ONLY happens for that “blog” channel. If I go back to home and try content > publish > downloads (my second channel). All dropdowns work as expected (although the page doesn’t: the “Date” tab still says “Ping” even though the hover title say “date_menu”... yet another significant bug I already reported that hasn’t been addressed in months).

I have no idea how to even start trouble shooting that one…

    Thanks

    minimal design,

What version and build of EE are you using?
EE2.1.3 is the most recent version. If you are not on this can you please upgrade your version

I’m confused… Did you maybe miss the title of my post?

Just realized the arrow to reveal fields that are hidden by default don’t work either… So basically I can’t edit/create posts in that channel right now which is sort of a serious situation… Client is growing highly frustrated… Hate to say it, but EE2 has been difficult to rely on professionally… Hope the support can make up for it! 😊

    Thanks!

    I did. My bad.

Can you confirm though that you did an actual version update though as opposed to a build update?

Did you update your themes folder?

Note the new javascript folder in your themes folder

That’s correct, from 2.1.0 to 2.1.3, following the update instructions to the letter… Just for the hell of it I updated the javascript folder but it didn’t change anything.

As I mentioned before, these issues happen *only in one channel* so if I were to venture a wild guess, I’d say it’s not a simple Javascript issue, maybe related to “layout”? Unfortunately, because of those issues I can’t clear the layout for that channel… If you know how to clear a channel layout straight from MySQL, I could try that. Unless you got a better idea? Anything else that could be Javascript related, but channel specific?

    Thanks,

minimal design, are you using any third party add-ons? I’ve seen some issues where third parties needed to upgrade their offerings.

What’s different about that one channel?

Also, you can do some judicious deleting via SQL of the exp_layout_publish table. But I’d do that as a last resort.

    Does that help?

I have exactly the same issues after an update from 2.1.0 to 2.1.3.

Yes, there are third party add-ons:
    WYGWAM
    Freeform
    Matrix
    NSM Better Meta
    NSM Live Look
    NSM Morphine Theme
    Shorten Tweet
    Tag

The “bad” channel is the one which uses WYGWAM, Matrix, NSM add-ons & Tag.

    Thank you

Just realized I never replied here… I fixed this by update all 3rd party modules to latest. Not sure which one it was but from that list I recognize Tags so I’d start there…

  • #10 / Feb 02, 2011 2:53am

    Agree!

I am 99% certain that the Tag module causes the conflict.

So minimal design, all is well, then?

  • #12 / Feb 02, 2011 5:31pm

Just a note: I updated Tags to its latest version and everything runs smoothly again.
