    Hi,

I’m building an EE2 (2.1.3) site on a Network Solutions shared hosting platform. Due to their security protocols, any file that is uploaded by a PHP process gets a 640 file permission. This means that uploaded images cannot be seen by the public on a web page. Anyone know of any fixes for this via PHP or EE code?

    Thanks,

    Mike

Perhaps creating and maintaining uploads in the cloud? S3 perhaps? There are some third party add-ons on Devot-ee.com that might assist with your problem. Of course, you could change hosts. I’d recommend EngineHosting, for the main reason you never have to fiddle with file permissions at all.

Thanks—Figured it out. It’s the Network Solutions shared hosting—they only set PHP-uploaded files to 640. We had to upgrade to a VPS service to take care of that.
