Is there some extension or something similar that would enable me to write entry in EE 2.0 and after it is published to be autmatically published to Facebook and Twitter so I do not have to do it manually ..

I’m actually looking to do the same thing, so I thought I’d see if I could help us both 😊

First off, your one-stop place for any type of extension to EE is Devot://ee. They list every Module, Accessory, Plug-In and so on for EE, and is also a really awesome site to just find inspiration and see what is possible with EE.

I did a search for “twitter facebook” and limited to EE 2 stuff, and found a couple of things. I could not find one extension that could post to both social networks, but there might be one, you can take a closer look at Devot:ee yourself and see if you come up with something.

And maybe others on the forums have some ideas, and in any case I’d love to hear what your end up with!

To send your posts to Facebook, I found Facebook Connect: http://bit.ly/e3E730 This can send any content you choose to your Facebook page, but it’s main use is to let users register and/or log on to your site via their Facebook log-in.

There is however a free way to do what you want, in case you don’t need the other abilities Facebook Connect offers! On Facebook there is a free app called RSS Graffiti: http://apps.facebook.com/rssgraffiti

This awesome app imports any RSS-feed you choose, and posts to your profile OR to your Facebook Page or Group, every time there is a new item in the feed. That way you just post content to your EE site as normal, and RSS Graffiti then checks the feed for your blog or whatever, and when you write new stuff it grabs it and posts it to your profile, page or group, or all of them.

It’s highly customizable, and you can choose to post just headlines, a small teaser or however much of your EE-post you want to show on Facebook. Ohh, and it of course links back to the EE-content when Users clicks on the item in Facebook. I use it extensively on my Profile and Groups, and it works flawlessly and does not put any kind of advertising in the content it grabs.

I highly encourage anyone using it, to send them a small donation, as it’s free and the only one of its kind, that can grab RSS-feeds and post to both Profiles, Groups and Pages on Facebook. They sure deserve a little christmas donation, and I’m not affiliated with them, just love the service 😊

Posting to Twitter automatically is something I’m still looking into. There is Short’n Tweet: http://bit.ly/e95KP7 that will create a “Tweet This” button on your site, so users can Tweet your entries. Not exactly what you wanted, so if you find anything interesting, I’d love to hear about that too. And I’ll report back here, if i find something first.

I’m sure there is a service similar to RSS Graffiti that will take a feed and post to Twitter automatically, so if we find anything or others have ideas, lets post about it here too!

If you’re on a Mac, you can also look into the excellent Socialite from the makers of RapidWeaver: http://realmacsoftware.com/socialite/

This will take a text you write, and post it to any number of social networks in one click, so you could just write a small teaser when you’ve written a new post in EE, and then post via Socialite to all you networks. Not automated, but really fast 😊

Let me know what you decide to do, and if others have any input to this, please post here too! By the way, Twitter and Facebook have their own API’s, so if you’re a coder or know about stuff like that, you could create something yourself.

LG Twitter allows you to automatically post new entries to twitter.

That is what I looked for. I will surely try to use both of them and will report status of usage :D

I’m looking for something to post from our EE2 website from our news RSS feed. We are currently using the Facebook app SocialRSS, but I’ll be honest and say that it’s flaky (which is why I’m here looking for other ideas). I am going to check out social graffiti due to the glowing review given above.

However, I mostly wanted to interject because Facebook already has built in functionality to connect to your Twitter account and automatically re-post all Facebook wall postings to your twitter account. It’s not a third party app, it’s just a built-in Facebook feature that is rock solid and, in my experience, works instantly and 100% of the time. How do you do it? I never worry about Facebook posts making it to Twitter, I mainly have to fuss with getting my EE news postings to Facebook. Once there, Twitter is a given thanks to the linking functionality.

Yeah, all the modules/plugins at the moment are only for EE 1.6 +

There is absolutely NOTHING at the moment for EE 2.0 that automatically posts the entry to Twitter (title of an entry + the link) - It would be fantastic and a real open market for a developer to make, especially if there’s an option to post to both Twitter + Facebook.

I use Hootsuite (http://www.hootsuite.com). It pulls the RSS feed(s) from EE and posts automagically to Twitter, FB, LinkedIn, Ping.fm.
