Should the Date field type still have the Fixed or Localized option?
I thought that the date problems were fixed by the change to UTC.

Hi, Paul. I have no idea. 😊 I’ll go ask. Thanks in advance for your patience.

    Any thoughts on this yet?

I’m just about to input a mass of entries on a new site and want to make sure this doesn’t come back and bite me.

Nothing yet, but everyone is just getting back to work today.

    Hi Paul,

Yes, those two options should still be there. A fixed time will always display as the same time no matter what timezone the user’s account is set to when they view the entry. A localized time will be converted to the user’s timezone when they view the entry. The one you’ll need depends on what types of entries you’re adding. Does that help?

    Sort of…
Building sites for the UK market means that these time issues are irrelevant really and just ads confusion.
But my problem is now resolved, in that I’ve given up bashing my head against a brick wall with EE2 and gone back to 1.7.

The extension Low CP for 1.7 fixes the problem.

Low CP gets rid of the drop down select box and replaces it with a hidden form field which sets the localization to fixed by default.

I accept that there may be people that need the ability to control times of entries but suspect that for most it just adds a complication to the process.
