Perhaps I have something missunderstood or my EE 2.1.1 installation is missing something.

I make an entry, click the little button under a custom field. The file manager pops up. I upload an image. The image is shown as a thumbnail. Now the problem. I click on the thumbnail and nothing happens. I think, now the image path should be shown in the custom field? So it were in 1.6.x.

My workaround is to write in the path by hand. But that isn’t elegant.

    Hi franxx,

Is there a ‘Return to Publish’ button right after the image uploads? Clicking that should place the image code in the field. Which build of EE 2.1.1 are you using? This information should be at the bottom of every CP page. Also, version 2.1.2. has been released so I would recommend upgrading to that if you can.

    Cheers

    Greg

    Hi Greg,

yes, after uploading there is a button “Resize Image” or “Return to publish”. I click “Return to publish”, but the custom field remains empty. EE 2.1.1 Build: 20101020

I hesitate to upgrade at 2.1.2, because of possible problems told in the forum.

Please try upgrading to 2.1.3. Are you using the forum module? Or any third-party add-ons?

I have updated to EE 2.1.3, third-party addons are user, imgsizer, trunchtml low seg2cat.

In EE 2.1.3 there is the same behaviour as discribed above. I tested with IE8, Firefox 3.6, Opera 10 (all on Windows system). The solution: Take Safari 5.0. Safari shows the Return to publish button. EE2 is very special.

Can you please try without any third-party add-ons for testing?

I hesitate to deinstall third-party addons, because it is a live msm-Site. I think, I would loose data, if I deinstall. So I would have to rebuild the complete site on a local test system ...

I take a second, closer look to the problem. I can upload and place the pictures in a custom field via EE-filemanager in the original msm-site. That is the site, where the ee-installation is placed. I can sometimes upload and never place the pictures in the additional msm-sites.

The function was perfect in 1.6.x, but it fails now after upgrading the site to 2.1.3. So could there be something in the index.php of the additional sites, I have to change?

Of course you should always make a backup, but disabling all extensions globally using the big green button does, in fact, preserve settings, allowing you to easily turn them back on again after testing.
