    Hello!

I’m trying to setup my client’s website so that its’ editor can easily manage comments throughout the site.  I have comments successfully getting e-mailed to her (she’s the author of the articles), but the {unwrap}{delete_link}{/unwrap} tag in the “Admin Notification of Comments” Email Notifications Template is not working.  Here’s the link generated in my e-mail:

    Delete?
    http://www.englishcompass.org/admin/index.php?S=0&C=publish&M=delete_comment_confirm&channel_id=2&entry_id=44&comment_id=20

When I click on it, the new tab it takes me to is my main control panel, even though I’m already logged into the CP in a previous tab.

I found a similar problem in this other post, but I have index.php in my CP path settings so that’s not the issue.

Any ideas on why the delete link is not taking me straight to that comment to either delete or change status on?

    Thanks!

P.S. I’m on EngineHosting, so using the latest EE 2.1.0 Build 20100810.

P.P.S. A solution to this would be great, although this still requires my editor to be logged into her CP all the time in order to approve or delete comments, and she’s always bringing up how on other WordPress sites she works on, she can approve/delete comments right on the front-end of that site - has that functionality been added to the EE 2?  Thanks.

    Hi rfuste,

There is a new version of EE now (version 2.1.2) and I’ve successfully tested this functionality on my local installation. Can you please upgrade to the latest version and then test this again?

I can’t comment on the differences between WP and EE (never used WP) but you may find that there is a 3rd party addon available on Devot://ee.

    Cheers

    Greg

How did you go about coding, so your comments are automatically emailed to the Arthur?

Hi, rfuste. Are you up and running again for your client? One other thing you may want to do is set the control panel backend to use Cookies only instead of cookies and sessions.

HowTo Set Cookies Only in Security Preferences

Question: When I start using my ExpressionEngine backend, and I don’t return back to the browser window in a while, my session has expired, and I have to log in again. How can I prevent this from happening?

Answer: You’ll need to set the value of Admin > Security and Privacy > Security and Sessions > Control Panel Session Type to Cookies Only.

v3imaging - the author of the entry itself? Which version/build of EE are you using?

Thank you for the reminder about upgrading.  I did, and it works fine now.  In fact, I see that I just missed the 2.1.3 release earlier today, darn it. 😊  I have a new problem, unfortunately:  the “User Comments Added Notification” email (which uses the same {comment_url} tag as the “Admin Notification of Comments”) is spitting out the {comment_url} url link with my once-temporary url of english.ehclients.com/index.php/name_of_article instead of my real url of englishcompass.org/articles/name_of_article.  Any reason why?

Like I said, the {comment_url} link works fine on the Admin Notification e-mail, giving me an englishcompass.org domain, but the same {comment_url} link in the “User Comments Added Notification” gives me the english.ehclients.com domain instead, which was only in use when I first set up the account.  All the main Admin general settings are set to englishcompass.org.

Any reason why?  Thanks for the help!

Once you’ve upgraded to the latest EE version, you can find those settings under Admin > Channel Administration > Channels.  Select which channel you’d like to make changes to, and then click on “Notification Preferences.”

Thanks for heads-up on using cookies only… it will make the amount of logins much less painful… thanks!

    Hi rfuste,

It it seems that the temporary URL could be in one of your channel paths. Your admin email points to the control panel but the user mail points to the front end so it the issue could be in the paths.

You can check this by going to Admin > Channel Administration > Channels. Clicking “Edit Preferences” link for the appropriate channel and investigating the “Path Settings” tab below.

    Sincerely,

    Hello Barry,

Sorry for not replying sooner, but your feedback did the trick - thank you!  Sometimes all these path settings can be buried in so many places, it’s hard to find the right spot for troubleshooting

    Thanks again!

Glad to see that worked. Please don’t hesitate to post again in case there’s anything else.
