The documentation here: http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/development/cp_styles/index.html#overriding_style is lacking a little detail. It does not seem to work at all, but I’m likely missing something.

    - When attempting to use an override.css file, and selecting my theme in the “General Configuration” panel, it does not load the override.css file.
    - Doing this also breaks all of the images, as the CP is looking in my new theme folder. Do I need to copy the images directory from the default theme?

I’m super excited about this new feature, by the way. Great work on 2.1.2

    Hi Fuel,

What’s your theme’s directory structure look like? The override.css file needs to be in a css subfolder as specified in the docs you linked to. Does that help?

General Configuration: Default Control Panel Theme: Default
My Account: Control Panel Theme: My theme

    It is.

Is it necessary that I duplicate the default theme first and rename it “my_theme” before i can use override.css?

    Pls. advise!

It’s not necessary but makes a lot of sense. That said, just put the override.css in the “css” folder of your “theme” folder as specified in your cp_theme url. It usually looks something like thiss:

    .../themes/cp_themes/foo/css/override.css

    Fuel and Thomas,

I believe this to be a bug so I have reported it on your behalf here. Any missing dependencies should be picked up from the default folder which isn’t the case here.
