Cannot login to control panel on localhost

This question may be related to a resolved thread.

I am having a very similar issue. I can see the frontend of my site but cannot login to the control panel.

I Have tried all sorts of things in the config file to no avail.

I have turned on debugging and now get this error on the control panel login page.

```
I’m really stumped would really appreciate some help.

What version and build of EE are you using? What version of PHP?

I’m on:
php 5.3.1
and
EE 1.6.8

Just to confirm, EE 1.6.8? In that case I’ll move this thread to the EE1 forums. Can you try to upgrade to EE 1.7? Lots of bug fixes, also helps us to rule out file corruption issues.
