For some reason, the forum module has stopped sending email notifications when someone posts to a subscribed thread. Where should I be looking for the appropriate settings?

What version and build of EE and your Forum Module do you have installed?
Do you have any add-ons?
Can you send and receive a mail through Communicate?
Check the Notification Preferences for both Categories and Forums by clicking the Edit link beside their titles

Yes, I can send and receive mail through Communicate.
I don’t see anything in the Notification Preferences, except buttons to enable notification for moderators. But at issue is notification for general members.

When you say “stopped sending”, does that means it’s been working before? Were there some changes to the server, perhaps a software upgrade, anything like that? I would also strongly recommend to upgrade to a more recent version of EE. 1.5.2 is over four years’ old at this point.
