Hi,
When I create a new tab in Control Panel, I can edit its name and order. The values of the name field and order field are saved correctly, but order of the tab isn’t updated - it stays in the same place.
It seems like bug.
I use v.1.7.0 build 20101018

Are you making sure to change all the order values and not just one?

It seems that I might have misunderstood the function of “order” field value.
I thought that the value of this field allows the user to place the newly created tab in relation to any other tab, but it seems that it allows only to place the newly created tab in relation only to other user-created tabs and user created tabs can only be placed between “Edit” tab and “Templates” tab. If this is correct, utility of “order” value is very limited.

It’s much the same in EE2.x, in that case it’s between Tools and Help. If you’d prefer other functionality, your best bet is to make a Feature Request.
