    Hi,

I’m just trying to install EE 2.1.1 on a shared server for a client, but been having some issues installing. I think these are mostly down to some odd permission requirements of their php files, but this prompted me to download and run the Server Wizard.

After running it does say “Congratulations! Your server is ready to use ExpressionEngine!”, but the PHP version appears not to be high enough as it also says: PHP Version 5.1.6 or greater is required and is NOT supported by this server.

I have checked the server and it’s currently running PHP Version 5.0.4

I’m a bit confused now wether to try and continue with the installation?

On the EE requirements page it just says PHP version 5.0 or newer.

Is it okay to continue or should I try and get this on a different server? I don’t think getting the PHP upgraded will be a viable option, as I think it will take a while and I need to get this running ASAP.

It’s true that the docs state PHP 5.0, and you can certainly give it a try. Please let us know in case you run into any issues.

I have gone ahead with the installation despite the PHP warning and all seems to be okay so far (fingers crossed!).

    Many thanks.

You should be OK for now. It looks as though future [url=“http://expressionengine.com/blog/forecast/”]versions will require PHP 5.1.6+ though. The wizard’s slighty ahead of his time, so to speak.
