    Woke up this morning, and am not able to login to the control panel. My client isn’t able to get in either. I even tried the Forgot password route. What can I do when Locked out?

    Using Latest EE.
    PM for links to login page.

    More info:
    Trying to remember what all was done in the CP before this happened. I remember editing the cookie settings. I put in .thegroomslist.com in the site wide field. Which is going to be the new domain, once I transfer it.
    Could that be cause cause of not being able to login? I see that in the database, the Site settings field is a hash. Is there another way to edit it?

    Cookies usually are the culprit in this issue. Here’s a thread to check. See if you can add to your config.php file:

    $config['admin_session_type'] = "s";

    to force sessions, rather than cookies.

    Would that be at /system/expressionengine/config/config.php

    ?

    Gave it a try, but now when I go to login page, I just get this error:

    Your config file does not appear to be formatted correctly.
    My config file was blank before I put that code snippet in.

    I think I just blew away the config file on the server :(

    Is here a default one I can get somewhere?

    Blank? You didn’t have all this stuff:

    /*

    | The following items are for use with ExpressionEngine. The rest of

    */

    $config['app_version'] = '211';
    $config['install_lock'] = "";
    $config['license_number'] = "<snip>";
    $config['debug'] = "1";
    $config['cp_url'] = "http://example.com/staging/admin.php";
    $config['doc_url'] = "http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/";
    $config['is_system_on'] = "y";
    $config['site_label'] = 'Site Title';
    $config['cookie_prefix'] = '';
    $config['tmpl_file_basepath'] = '../../tpl/';

    $config['system_folder'] = "/server/path/to/public_html/sys/";

    // END EE config items

    If it was truly blank, try finding the original file to compare.

    The original should be in the zip you downloaded at the start. You can always download another .zip from your account at ee.com.

    The one in original download is blank as well. I’m guessing, when you install, it writes this file. Crap. I may need some 1st party help here. Any way to “restore” or at least upload a new one. I can fill in the params from what I remember. Just need a config template.

    You’re right: config.php *is* empty. Learn something new every day.

    I’ll PM you.

    Thanks for trying, but still not working
    http://www.503websolutions.net/

    I setup the variables and such.
    Is there any other way to fix this without starting all over? I would be crippled if that is the only case.

    UPDATE!

    I’m past the config error, and the site is back up. Still can’t login though.
    I did add that config param you posted, but still can’t login.

    FIXED! WOOT!
    I did what the linked post said to do and all is well. Thanks Michael for the help 😊
