    Hello,

recently I have received a inquiry from the client regarding enhancing and correcting his EE website.

    But there is a problem.
In site admin I have version called “1.6.9” but when im comparing it to screens from 1.6.9 documentation there is “modules” tab missing.
I was working on 2.1 EE but not on 1.x version and now I have a problem to check if it is a really valid version of EE. How can i check that? For example “pricing” on main page is from 2.1 EE and I cant compare availability of features with clients installation

can anybody help me regarding this? How can i check if its not some badly done upgrade or if it is some trial version?

The best way to check is took at the config.php file. That’s going to list the version.

It is also possible to set up access to the control panel that prevents the client from accessing the Module tab. Therefore, that specific tab would be missing. Depending on how restrictive the client access is, they might only see the Edit and Publish tabs. See the Member groups documentation (2.1) (or for 1.7.x Member Groups).

It’s possible that your client is not a Super Admin and doesn’t have access to every feature in the Control Panel.

I have super admin rights granted and that is why its very strange that there is modules tab missing.

Can you access the Module page directly? The URL is at

    index.php?C=modules

yep it works, please tell me what can be the problem that module tab is missing?

I have big experience in code igniter or wordpress but I made only simple stuff in EE and it were 2.x versions so i don’t know how it works at this level yet.

I’m not sure, not without knowing more about your setup. Is the Module tab gone for *every* Super Admin? Is there a blank spot where the Module tab might be?

yes, and there is no blank space.

Anyway thanks for Your help, It was needed to get this project, now when i will have FTP access i will try to figure stuff by my own… It was just a problem in panel because we were hired as 4th company and everybody before us made his own super extra upgrades in everywhere so nobody knew what was going on and why 😊

    Thank You:)

It’s quite possible that one of the hacks (“super extra upgrades”) was hiding the module tab. It’s been done. :D If you get a chance to upgrade, any hacks (edits) to core files will be erased. Then again, it might be a plugin or an extension designed to simplify the control panel. Check the plugins and extensions, too.

    Good luck!
