I have the Smileys module turned off and I’m using Wygwam for text input. But somehow they still appear in the post. Any ideas?

I’m not sure if WYGWAM over-rides your smiley module in ExpressionEngine, but it looks like Brandon might have added that by request. http://help.pixelandtonic.com/brandonkelly/topics/can_wygwam_output_ee_emoticons_smileys
Perhaps you can ask Pixel & Tonic if it’s set to over-ride your EE smiley settings by default and if you can change that?
