    Hi There,

I have a specific section where I need images to NOT have the width/height parameters specified due to some javascript going on.  I know I could just delete those params when uploading, however I’m building a site for a client and would like to have this automated for them.  I feel like this is very easy I’m just being stupid, but anyone have experience with this?  None of the File Upload prefs for this weblog seem to do the trick.  Thanks!

What version and build of EE are you using? Is this using the regular, built-in upload mechanism?

    contactizm,

Easiest way would be to just have the client add the URL only when adding an image and then you can do what you want on the template side

    {your_custom_field}

    Does that help?

    Hi everybody,

Just realized that the new FTP doesn’t give you options for what to you can insert into the field. I’m using CSS to control the height and widths for this image.

Is there an easy work around for this for 2.4?

    Hello Jack,

I’m not sure I fully understand your issue.

Just realized that the new FTP doesn’t give you options for what to you can insert into the field. I’m using CSS to control the height and widths for this image.

Are you referring to the ExpressionEngine File Manager? Is it behaving in a way that is unexpected for you?

In 2.4 you have the ability to create Image Manipulations and then access those in your templates. Using image manipulations will let you specify a width and height to be used for the manipulation.

    Does that help?

    Cheers,

    Hi,

    EE 2.4

I guess my question was to replicate the old 1.7 way of giving the client control of “Insert Path” and “Insert URL” for those times where you just want to link to an image vs display it. Is this gone now?

(I’m using the new file field type now but I was wondering if there was a way to upload a image and use the path only. The file field type is inflexible sometimes for some other things.)

    - thanks

    Hey Jack Tse,

I see what you mean now. You want a way to use a file path in an channel entry field with out image tags?

There’s no real elegant way to do that. I looked for something on Devot-ee that would let you do this, but couldn’t find anything.

You can have your client edit out the image tags. If you choose a file, it will automatically link to the file, he possibility is there.

I invite you to make a Feature Request.

Is there anything else I can assist you with?

    Cheers,
