I have a build coming up that will require a search facility that takes multiple parameters - eg a series of filters will be present on screen that the user works through, either as checkboxes or more ideally selects/dropdowns, before hitting the submit and getting a suitably filtered list of content back.

    Something similar to http://catch.uk.com/product-guide.php

Closest I’ve seen on the boards is :

    http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/85780/

which is probably where I’ll start, but as this is

    a) a couple of years old thread I’ll be following

    b) I’m still quite new to EE

I though I’d throw it out there in case someone knows a simple/alternative way or best practice to do something like this. In Drupal I would use a Views filters if that means anything to anyone, but I’ve committed to EE on this project - as yet unsure on 1.x as I need eCommerce and maybe go for CartThrob, or EE2 if a suitable shopping solution presents itself very soon.

    Thanks!

One approach, using categories, Low’s Seg2Cat extension, and some custom queries:

Aaah I see! Thanks Michael, I can think I can probably bend that for my situation, I’ll use that as my first crack at it I think. Cheers again.
