Sorry this is causing you so much grief. Have you tried any of the solutions from those posts you noticed? It is recommended you re-upload the themes folder to the server. This has proven to be successful for the EE.filebrowser.image_tag related errors.
Save that, updating to our current version (2.1.3) could prove useful.
