I have followed your instructions with no luck.

After I did CP > Design > Message Pages > Email Notifications and uncheck “Enable This Template” for the Mailing list email I downloaded the swedish translation of the system and choosed this in my profile.

I then when to the front-end and signed up for the newsletter. Everything on the site works fine but the email is still in english.

Image 1 - Swedish selected in my profile
Image 2 - Swedish thanks message in front-end after sign up to the newsletter
Image 3 - The Email sent from the system to activate sign up, still in english.

You were signed in, of course? Otherwise you’d have to set the site’s default preferences to Swedish. Unlogged members will always use those.

The Email sent from the system to activate sign up, still in english.

When you change this text in language/english/mailinglist_lang.php, does it change?

Yes, I have tested logged in and out. Did a retest today and changed to swedish in both global settings and my profile. Tested to be both logged in and not while singing up to the newsletter but still only english text.

I have now as well tested to change the english file, after I had changed back to en in global and profile.

    'ml_activation_instructions' =>
'Please click the link below to confirm your email….....',

But there is no changes in the email that comes from the system.

So it looks as though the language files are not used at all. Have you unchecked the checkbox for the “Mailing List Activation Instructions” in CP > Message Pages > Email Notifications? What happens when you modify that template?

Yes, the checkbox “Enable this template” for “Mailing List Activation Instructions” have been unchecked during all tests.

I tested to change the template with this still unchecked, nothing happend. When I checked the box and tried again it worked fine.

If the checkbox is not checked EE takes the text of the mailing from the language pack. Check (and attempt to modify) the English as well as Swedish (or other) ones. We need to establish were exactly that mailing text comes from.

this is really strange, the following is happening.

    1. I unchecked the mailing list template so that I use the language packs.
    2. I edit the language packs mailinglist_lang.php file (English and Swedish).
    3. Change the global language to English and in my profile. Still logged in I go to the frontpage and signup for the newsletter and there is no change in the email.
    4. I change to Swedish in both global and profile and test again. The email that i got this time is still in English BUT my edited one.

Did this two times over and same result both times.

Having English as language = English but not the edited one.
Having Swedish as language = English but the edited one.
