Another vote for EngineHosting. I’ve had good success with PairLite, Pair, and ServerLogistics, too.
A good host is oh so worthy. When push comes to shove, and traffic spikes, or things break, you want a host that can respond today, not next week.

Another +1 for Engine Hosting. I’ve been with them for years and not only had good support, but personal customer service from people who clearly have genuine knowledge that I have raved about time and again.
I’m no techie and don’t get involved with software/hardware customisations on sites - but any time I’ve sent a request (however dumbass) to Engine Hosting I’ve got a speedy and helpful reply. Having the great customer service is more important to me that any technical specifics and optimisations you might get elsewhere. (Not to suggest, you would get better performing servers elsewhere - only that on its own is not the biggest selling point for me).

At the risk of giving out a small secret, I’ve used Verve Hosting for many sites, both EE and non-EE, over the last decade and have found page loads quick and support requests answered promptly. I have not tried EH, so I can’t compare. Rackspace has also been good, but for a significantly larger budget.

I have my EE sites on Bluehost. They don’t have specific knowledge of EE, but their tech support people are very good, and I’ve never had any trouble configuring my sites no matter what customizations were necessary.

Can anyone suggest a web hosting company offering good support and awareness of EE.
I would have the same question but applying to European based server and invoicing in Euro?
I should add that i have MSM and cartthrob installed on my site.

We’ve been using http://firehost.com and have been extremely happy with all aspects of their service. They configured the server to our exact specs, and have provided top notch on-going support.
No affiliation, I’ve just spent too much time dealing with hosts and their issues. I’ve also had good experiences with Knownhost.com, but their default security policies are fairly lacking.

In europe, I’d recommend AlwaysData, these guys know their stuff when it comes to server software and management. They offer a lot of features on their shared servers that you normally only get on VPS or dedicated servers. http://www.alwaysdata.com/
Main servers in the north of France, redundancy in Ireland.
In Australia, I’d recommend Anchor, if you’re ready to pay, but the service you get is worth it (they will even help you optimise your code, databases…). If Anchor is too expensive, Panthur is the way to go if you’re a design/dev business. UberGlobal is pretty good as well but a bit more expensive then Panthur.
