Hi,
we’re looking to have a media repository for images, PDF files, videos so that we can share media files with press agencies.
I’ve looked around but have not found anything that seem to fit the bill.
It would need to be easy to use by our writer staff which would just upload full resolution images to a project folder, and thumbnails would be created automatically, then we’d just share a link (password protected if possible) and select press agencies could download specific files.

The thing to get used to with EE is that there are few content-specific “modules” like this.
You could create this functionality using the channel module, possibly a Matrix & File upload field, a press-specific member group, and some templates with permissions set on them.
