Hi! For some reason a recent email I tried to send to a mailing list of 1,963 was only sent to 1,600. I tried resending and got the same result. The same list was sent an email last month and it reached all members of the list. Any idea why this is happening? Thanks!

Hi, Jackie. Are you sending out emails in batch mode? How many items in the batch? Have you checked with your host about any sort of email sending restrictions?

Hi, Sue. No, they’re not going in batch mode as far as I know. We’ve been doing them the same way for a long time and this is the first problem we’ve had. The list has always been about the same size. We use EngineHosting. I see on this page that the size of our mailing is actually not kosher: http://www.enginehosting.com/web_hosting/policy/email-aup/. But I’m wondering why there is even a mailing list option of this size in EE since sending to that size is forbidden. Also wondering why the sudden change and why it would cut off at 1600 as opposed to, say, 250. I think for now I’ll have to figure out batch mode and then we’ll just need to switch to Campaign Monitor.

    jacklalley,

EngineHosting is not part of EllisLab but a separate company. This is their policy and not one of ExpressionEngine or any other product of EllisLab. You will have to contact them separately to question the cut-off you experienced.

I think for now I’ll have to figure out batch mode and then we’ll just need to switch to Campaign Monitor.

Batch mode basically means it sends it to what ever batch you set, say 150 then waits a few seconds and sends out another 150 until your whole list has been sent to.

If CM fits your needs then that is fine too. There are actually a lot of add-ons available that will integrate CM with ExpressionEngine.

    Does that help?

    HI, John
Yeah, I know EngineHosting is separate. I’ll contact them about the cut-off. Or, since there are other reasons to switch, I’ll just do it. Thanks for the heads-up on the add-ons. I was hesitating about making the switch because I didn’t know about them.
    Thanks!
