EE refuses to accept my login and password

Hi, I just purchased EE 2.0, and installation went flawless. However, the user id and password for the controlpanel I choose are not accepted by EE when I want to login. Also, the new password sent to me to reset the old one, is not accepted.

This is the URL I have while the site’s web A record is still pointing to an outside IP:
    http://111.111.111.11:8880/sitepreview/http/domainname/systemfolder/index.php

Of course the IP here is fake, but might it be that EE does not recognize this? How to get around this?

    Greetings,

    Martin.

Hi Martin and welcome to the forums 😊

However, the user id and password for the controlpanel I choose are not accepted by EE when I want to login.

Did you get an error message or did the page just refresh?

    The page just kept refreshing.

Hi, Martin. What I do is modify my host file so that the IP address I’m working with is associated with the domain name. Are you familiar with a hosts file, and are you on Windows or a Mac?

I’ve meanwhile set up a subdomain, and installed EE there. When the A record is switched to our IP address again, I’ll move EE to the root of the server.

Martin, as you have a workaround I will close this for now but feel free to start a new thread if you have any more questions.
