    Hi -

I have created a large site with about 100 weblogs. I need to allow my client to make updates to existing content. I created a new Member Group with just the edit tab showing and permission to edit all of the weblogs. They can get in and edit things but as soon as they publish it the weblog becomes “closed” and the page content on the site goes blank.
I checked in Weblog Administration to be sure that the weblogs have been assigned to the “Default Status Group” but this does not change anything and everything still closes and disappears from the site.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks in advance-
    Shawna

Hi, Shawna. Ordinarily this problem will be fixed when you associate a status group to the weblog in question. Which build/version of EE1.x are you using? You can see that at the bottom of any control panel page. Are you using any third party add-ons?

Thank you for the quick reply. The version is 1.6.9
It is a straight installation no 3rd party plugins.

I have attached screen shot to make sure I have set the group correctly…
(just testing on the weblog that is marked as closed)

    Thank you again!

When you post as a Superadmin, does that work as intended?

Yes that works - as Super Admin…

    Shawna_1,

Have a look in the preferences for that Status group.
Are your Member group allowed to access it?
See under Restrict status to members of specific groups in the right column

CP Home ›  Admin ›  Weblog Administration ›  Status Groups ›  Statuses

    Thank you for your reply!
I hope that I am in the right plane.

Admin > Weblog Administration > Custom Entry Statuses > Add/Edit Statuses

If so, I checked both closed and open and member groups (Super Admin and the problem one “Updates”) Both have the Yes column checked. Am I in the right place?

It’s frustrating because I can not seem to “un-Close” any of the weblogs my client went in as member “Updates” and edited, so the website pages are now blank in those content areas.

I’m actually having the same problem. I’ve never had this problem before, but just started happening with my lower level admins. All of the status seem to be open, I don’t know how it suddenly started happening.

I just figured it out. Instead of setting the Status Group

Admin ›  Weblog Administration ›  Weblog Management ›  Edit Group Preferences

to “Default Status Group”, it was set to “None” for that weblog. Oh well

    Glad you got that working.
That is the first thing I tried as noted in all of my posts, but it did not work for me. It’s getting tough the site was supposed to be live last Friday and I am running out of delay tactics.

Shawna, there’s one other possibility. Make sure your user group has access to that particular status group. See the screenshot?

Thank you for sticking with me. I have no idea how to get to this screen. Can you please help me with that?

    if this is the way:

CP Home ›  Admin ›  Weblog Administration ›  Status Groups ›  Statuses

i don’t even have the Restrict status to members box visible anywhere. See attachment. I am logged in as the Super Admin.

    Thank you!

    Shawna_1,

this was the screen I was originally asking you to goto. The only reason for this box to disappear is if you turned off the Control Panel Area Access  for Publish off for this member group.

Can you check that please. If off turn it on and then you can update the Restrict status to members box on the statuses screen.

Let us know if that works for you.

Ok. I wish everyone would not cut off the path to these things on their jpgs. I have no idea how to get to this screen, I feel like I have clicked on everything.
Please can you walk me through how to get this. My time is running out. It looks like I will have to rebuild the web logs that are permanently closed. And then just hand over Super Admin access to my client which is not what i wanted. This never happened to me before I have purchased 3 full licenses and never had this occur.

This is what my interface looks like. I am not sure I am in the same place as you are.

Thanks - please respond as soon as possible.

    Shawna,

This is the screen where you initially gave permissions to the new member group you created

Goto CP Home ›  Admin ›  Members and Groups ›  Member Groups  and click on the Edit Group beside the new member group you created.

Click on Control Panel Area Access and change as per my jpg.

Now go back to CP Home ›  Admin ›  Weblog Administration ›  Status Groups ›  Statuses and you should see the Restrict status to members box with your member group showing as per Sue’s jpg
