budparr,
regardless of those two folders does deleting the cache via FTP make any difference?
I relaize its intermittent so will take a while to test.
Double check your permissions on the cache folder are set to 777

Yes, double checked on the permissions.
So, I created a test entry. No problem. Then I switched on “Clear all caches when new entries are posted?” and got the duplicated entries. So the problem seems to be something stemming from the cache, no?
p.s. the tag_cache_delete folder is there (I had uninstalled tag). There is a exp_tag_prefs table in the database.

Hi Bud,
I made a post in the Test channel without an issue but you seem to have mixed engine types in your DB (MyISAM and InnoDB). I’m not sure what the consequence of this might be. Have you or, your development team or support staff done any manual DB tuning?
Cheers
Greg

Thanks, Greg - Problem is that this typically only occurs when “Clear all caches when new entries are posted?” is on. It’s that slow down that seems to cause the duplicate entries.
Haven’t done anything to the database other than moving it over from one server to another and deleting a couple of non-ee related tables that were in there.
So I see what you’re talking about. Could that be it? Is it safe just to change the tables back?

As long as you have a good backup, go ahead and change them.

Hi budparr,
Just following up to make sure this is resolved. Let us know if not. Thanks!

Hi Brandon,
Well, yes. I went and changed the individual tables that were InnoDB to MyISAM, though that wasn’t working. I moved the site over to EngineHosting where, I believe, MyISAM is the default engine, and that worked. It takes a long long time to clear the cache, but I’m not getting the duplicate entries anymore.
I’m trying to investigate the cache issue and, and separately, whether or not the host I use for a lot of sites, RackspaceCloud Sites, is viable with ExpressionEngine given that it seems to default to InnoDB. So, problem solved, yet still some issues to work through.
Thanks!

Cool. Don’t hesitate to post again as needed.
