Hey guys, so I had EE 1.6.7 forums on a server that has since crashed. We were able to recover the mysql db. I’ve created a new forum in EE2, installed forum module, then imported the data for the forums through phpmyadmin(copied and pasted the “Dumping data for table…” into “SQL” tab in phpmyadmin)

I went to the new forum and it looks like the forums imported fine but when I click on a forum, it shows no topics. New topics that are posted display fine. But none of the old topics are showing up. Any ideas would help, thanks!

note: Old EE install was just a forum. New install has MSM

    FlashBoyz,

What version forum did you have installed on EE1.6.7 and now what version do you have installed on EE2.
Your issue here looks like a version difference. There are likely differences in the db structure

    The first/old forum was 2.1.1. We’re currently using 3.1.0

Hi, FlashBoyz - there are major differences between Forum 2 and Forum 3; you can’t just copy the database tables over, you need to actually run the forum updater to make those changes.

I would recommend rolling back and going through the upgrade procedure again, including visiting the Module’s control panel to initiate the database changes.

Ok, so just so I’m clear:

    1. Downgrade to 2.1.1 (I’m guessing using the upgrade instructions in the User Guide)
    2. Copy the forum tables over
    3. Then upgrade to 3.1.0

Hi, FlashBoyz - not quite, your EE Discussion Forum module 2 is compatible with the EE 1 database.  You need to upgrade it from the EE 1 database to tohe EE 2 database.  That means upgrading it with your 1.6.7 install.

You can’t copy EE 1 database tables into the EE 2 database.  There were too many database changes for that to work.
