    I have been using EE 1.6.7 Core for over one year and I just purchased EE 2.1.1. I’m facing problems with installation. I followed the steps on the “Updating from 1.x to 2.x” documentation, installation went well, but, after getting the message that says EE 2 was running, the control panel didn’t open (I deleted the folder installer). It said EE was unable to load _shared/menu/item_parent.php. I uploaded the file again. I got another error message: unable to load account/login.php. I uploaded this file again, but it didn’t work. So, I came to the forum and saw a troubleshooting for the same problem that said to add the following line to system/expressionengine/config.php: $config[‘theme_folder_path’] = “/themes/”;

    That didn’t work for me, and, now, I have another error message: Your config file does not appear to be formatted correctly. I double checked file and directory permissions for:
    system/expressionengine/config/config.php
    system/expressionengine/config/database.php
    system/expressionengine/cache/ (and its contained folders)

    I restored the config file without the line change, but the same error persists (Your config file does not appear to be formatted correctly).

    Where should I start now?

    Update: I realized that my cp-URL was incorrect and I fixed it, but I still get the same message when I try to point my web browser to the system folder or to my website (Your config file does not appear to be formatted correctly)

    Any suggestions?

    Vivianne,

    Did you also update your themes folder and your root index file?

    So, I came to the forum and saw a troubleshooting for the same problem that said to add the following line to system/expressionengine/config.php: $config[‘theme_folder_path’] = “/themes/”;

    That would need to be the full server path to your themes folder as opposed to the relative one you have there. Not the URL but the server path.
