OK, so here’s how I managed to get this to happen on a client site using EE 1.7 and Discussion Forums module v2.2.0.

    1) On and existing forum thread I do a ‘Fast Reply’ and in this reply I have some basic formatting such as some carriage returns:

    Testing

    Testing

    Testing

    And then submit it.

    2) As a forum admin, I then click ‘Edit’ on the post I’ve just created using ‘Fast Reply’. This takes me to the full Edit page which looks to be using an FCKEditor (don’t know if this is standard or not). When the reply post is displayed, it no longer has any carriage returns, instead it’s just:

    Testing Testing Testing

Could this be a Forum software problem or a problem with the FCKEditor. Note this is on a website that I’ve just taken over, so still getting to know all the quirks that it has up its sleeve.

    Cheers
    Brendan

I am suspecting an issue with FCKEditor, yes. Does this also happen without it?

Not 100% sure. Where would one start to look to turn the FCKEditor off (or replace/remove) for that Edit form?

    Hi, sillbeer -

FCKEditor is not standard with the EE forums; disabling it would depend on how it was added.  Do you have access to the previous developer?  It would be best to ask them how they implemented this.

Unfortunately I don’t. Will take a look at the templates and see what I can find.
