Photo gallery -- image upload max

    Hello everyone,

Today one of our communications people broke an EE website because she uploaded a 37 MB image to the photo gallery (3000x4000, approx), and the imgsizer plugin couldn’t process that large of an image.

I know in the File Upload preferences we can limit the size of images / documents / etc into directories, and we do that, but can we do the same for the Photo Gallery module? Cap the size, add a limit?

I cannot find such a setting anywhere.

    Thank you in advance.

    Slankman,

I’m afraid there is nothing in the Gallery module that allows you to do this.
There are only two alternatives I can think of.
One is upping your PHP memory and upload limit and the other converting your gallery over to using weblogs instead.

37MB seems quite large even for an image of those dimensions.
When you say it broke the site did you get an error or a blank page?

Pages that dealt with that image (or, at least something related to it, we know) showed a blank page. Other pages on the site worked.

I don’t want to “up” my PHP memory because I don’t want images like that to go through.

I’m pretty sure it was a 300 DPI PDF that the woman had saved as a JPG (not saving for web).

I suppose you answered my question. Thank you very much.

If you have any other suggestions, please let me know!

Unfortunately I have no further advice here. Some user training, I suppose… Please post again in case there are any more issues.
