    Hi,

    I’m running 1.6.9 Build:  20100805 with MSM.  The 404 page has been set for site 1 but when I try to set the 404 for the second site it won’t save.  After I hit update the 404 drop down under global template prefs it just reverts to none.  Is this expected behavior?  Is it not possible to have separate 404 page for different sites?

    Thanks

    fodney,

    It is possible yes. What version and build of MSM are you running?
    I don’t see an MSM license for your username. Was it bought under a different username?

    Hi John,

    MSM Version: 1.1 Build: 20100805.  Yeah, the licenses were bought by the university/client.

    Thanks

    John,

    I’m happy to send you a cp login so you can see the behavior.

    Let me know.

    Is your config.php file writable? Also, consider upgrading to EE 1.7, it’s a recommended security update.

    As far as I know it is.  How would I test that?

    Thanks

    Check permissions, first and foremost.

    It was set to 664.  I changed it to 777 but that didn’t help.

    fodney,

    you must set the following files to 666:

      * path.php
      * system/config.php
      * system/config_bak.php

    How was the second site created? Was it a duplicate of the first or was it started from scratch?

    Ok, I changed those files to 666 but it didn’t help.  Still not able to save the 404 page.  The second site was built from scratch.  It doesn’t share anything with the first.

    Thanks

    Fodney, the 404 page is set to site/404 - isn’t that what you wanted? I did notice that you have save template revisions turned off, and the path to the template revisions filled in…

    site/404 is for site #1.  I was trying to set about/404 for site #2 but it won’t take.  It always reverts back to none.

    Thanks

    Hi fodney,

    You have the site_404 set in your config file. This will override anything that you try and set in the CP. Commenting out $conf[‘site_404’] will allow 404 templates to be set on a per-site basis.

    Cheers

    Greg
