I have deployed a site; and I thought it had all gone well until I realised that:

The primary navigation items; don’t parse any information.

I used deploy helper to update the path and URL settings throughout the site; and then find and replace to change the settings within the templates.

The site had been built under http://www.sitename.com/alpha

So all I did (I think) is search for http://www.sitename.com/alpha (and the server path equivalent) and replace without the alpha….

Now - the primary navigation items no longer do anything - other than resolve on a whitepage (I can see the homepage). From the homepage it is possible to click through to other content; which all works fine (including pages that use a combination of the template used for the primary pages)...

As this is all getting a little abstract - if you want to have alook -

    Go to http://www.printclublondon.com/eesys

    sign in with:

    username: help
    password: thankyou

and then visit http://www.printclublondon.com and you should see the homepage - now click on any of the primary navigation items and you’ll see a white page - click on any of the links listed underneath and you will get to the correct page…

absolutely any ideas about where i’ve gone wrong would be much appreciated!

    Thank you
    James

So, after a good few hours of headbanging… i’ve resolved the issue -

Turns out i’m a bit of an idiot -

The client is keen that each image on a listing page can have the height and width controlled - so cleverly i’d stuck in a matrix field “image_height” “image_width”. I hadn’t remembered that without that data - the whole system would break.

I’ve now instigated a conditional to cover the very real possibility that people will forget to fill out these fields…

I’d be surprised if this post is useful for anyone else out there - just venting my relief really!

    All the best
    James
