    Hi,

I am wanting to create a ‘guestbook’ where viewers can leave feedback. Initially, I thought this would be pretty simple - create a weblog (called weblog), allow commenting on this weblog, insert a comment form and display the previous comments. Does this sound right?

However, as I am still learning EE, I have found it quite difficult to find a ‘template’ as such - to manipulate and achieve this.

I would really really appreciate some help with this.

    Thanks in advance,
    Dan

Welcome to the ExpressionEngine forums, Dan.

I’ve found that if you want a guest book or something similar, the best app to use is Solspace’s Freeform. Does that help?

    Hi Sue,

Thanks for getting back to me. I will give the Solospace Freeform a go. I had a look at the link you posted - it didn’t really have any information about how to display the comments once submitted and also, if the comments can be moderated by the Admin?

    Thanks again for your reply,
    Dan

This sounds perfect for a guestbook. I know Sue is recommending Freeform but I believe using the commenting module you have all the features right out of the box.

You would need to just create one entry in this weblog.

You would use the Comment Entry Tag to show the comments
Then use the Comment Submission Form for guestbook submissions

if the comments can be moderated by the Admin

You can set moderation via the weblog preferences for your Guestbook weblog

    Does that help?
