When I make a change to a template I am getting kicked back to the site index page. The url is correct for the control panel but the displayed page is the public facing index page. Any ideas?

Hi, Eric. Are you using Sessions, Cookies and Sessions, or just Cookies when logged into the back end?

Which build/version of EE1.x? You can find that at the bottom of any control panel page?

Sorry Sue…For some reason I didn’t get notified that you posted. I am using 1.6.7 Build:  20090320. As for session type:
    Control panel: Session only
    User session type: Cookies only

This site was built by someone else and they use something I was not familiar with. They are saving templates as files and then FTP’ing in and editing the file rather than the template. Good tip.

I have narrowed it down to only one template doing this. I started narrowing down the characters in the template by cutting the characters in the template in half recursively until I found the issue. It was in one line of HTML but I could find no reason for the bug. I even took the code and pasted it into Notepad++ and made sure it was UTF-8 and re pasted it in the template edit page. Same result.

When I FTP’d into the server and edited the file using FTP and a text editor it worked just fine. Now when I go ack and edit using the template interface in EE it works fine as well. I am going to assume that it was an issue with the file/permissions of that one file that the control panel was saving.

Ever heard of this one before?

At any rate it is fixed now.

It doesn’t sound familiar, but if things are working again, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. You are two versions behind.. you may want to consider upgrading. Don’t hesitate to post again as needed.
